09.E Correspondence Barnett 2021-03-02-----Original Message----- From: Summer Barnett <summerbarnett@gmail.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 2, 2021 11:12 AM To: City Council <citycouncil@PismoBeach.org> Subject: Stop Sign James Way Support External Email To whom this may concern: My name is Summer Barnett and my family and I live on Elaine Way in Sea Country Estates. We often take walks down to the pharmacy and throughout the neighborhood and have to cross the street at the school crossing at James Way/Francis Way. On more occasions than not cars do not stop for us at this crosswalk, and we have had several close calls in which we have had to either run forward or jump back out of the way for a car. This being a school crossing concerns me greatly, and I would never feel comfortable crossing there with my daughter during the busy morning hour or in the afternoon if she were to take the bus. I’m sure some older children walk there without parents and need to cross, and I am so concerned a tragedy will at some point occur at this intersection if a stop sign on James Way is not installed. From my experience, it seems that the vehicles are not able to even see the pedestrians crossing there, and due to the distance of the crosswalk if a person that was not able to move quickly to the other side of the street were to cross here the results could be catastrophic. I truly hope that the council and members of the city see and understand this need, and that a stop sign can be installed before a tragic event takes place. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. The Barnett Family
